gift guide: for the entertainer

Hope everyone had a very relaxing Thanksgiving filled with extraordinary amounts of food, family, and fun!  I cannot get over the fact that yesterday was the first day of December.  Did it creep up on anyone else??

I will be starting a series of gift idea posts geared towards different personas.  I’m always on the hunt for gifts that are specific to the person, yet unique and useful too!

The first gift guide is geared toward the Entertainer.  We all know that someone who loves to have dinner parties at their house, cook up a bunch of food, or has that killer wine collection.  It may seem like this person has all their bases covered but here are some interesting items they may not have:

gift guide - for the entertainer

  1. tabletop collection is simple yet elegant
  2. gold bar cart at a great price
  3. stylish wood cutting boards that are great for serving breads or cheeses
  4. metallic coasters add an unexpected element of style
  5. set of whale measuring spoons are cute for the sea lover
  6. Scandinavian style salt & pepper grinders

color story: camel + navy

I love the color of camel specifically because it can instantly dress up any space.  It feels, warm, rich, and sophisticated.  While Navy’s personality gives off different vibes – nautical, bold, traditional – these two totally compliment each other. If you’re going for a look that is classic and stylish, but not overly feminine, these 2 are for you.

Try throwing some fun pattern in the mix, such as leopard.

Pair with textures like acrylic or metallic for a more modern feel.

Use these 2 as a color pop in with light walls to enhance a neutral space.

Or go with a deep blue paint color to make the space feel warm and masculine.

These colors have a way of feeling “dressed up” but they can also be more casual too!

emerald city

Homepolish- Kelly Oxford's Palm Springs Home

I’m a sucker for anything that is crisp white or mid-century.  So it comes as no surprise that I was instantly obsessed with writer Kelly Oxford’s Palm Springs residence.  Add in some natural fiber rugs, pops of emerald green, and some plant life, and I’m all in.

Homepolish - Kelly Oxford and Orlando Soria

Homepolish Designer Orlando Soria (aka Emily Henderson’s old right hand man) was the brainchild behind this lovely project.  Truly, he is a design rock star and I am always excited to see his work because you never know what his creative next move might be.  He’s fearless when it comes to design, a trait he definitely shares with Emily.  And if you follow him on Instagram you know he’s also pretty hilarious.

Loving this shot and contrast between the soft neutrals and bold emerald.

What a great idea to stagger the 2 coffee tables.  Great way to fill the huge space between the sofas but not in a massive, cluttered way.Homepolish- Kelly Oxford's Living Room

6 end tables i’m loving right now

Here are a few of my favorite {living room} things…

6 end tables I'm loving right now

1> Vein cut marble top paired with the wood base is sophisticated yet earthy.

2> I already love a good log table, but the lacquered silver takes the cake. Use one as a drink table, or bunch a few in place of a coffee table.

3>  A modern take on Saarinen’s tulip side table. I adore the metal and wood combo!

4> Love the simple shape.  This one can be traditional or modern, and comes in the gray wash  (as shown) or 2 other finishes.

5> These little hourglass tables from Target are a steal at $59.99!

6> Gold leaf hairpin legs + white marble top = A little slice of heaven

Which one is your fave??

garden lust

It seems like the rest of the world is on the brink of going back to school or breaking out the fall boots, and out here in Texas-land we are at the peak of our summer heat.  My grass has turned 50 shades of brown as the temps climb over 100 degrees here each day.  Rain? What’s that?  I’m not sure, because we haven’t seen any in months.  🙂 Neither have my poor plants.  I struggle to keep them alive as it is, and this drought is not helping.

ferns. ferns. ferns.

So, on this lovely Monday morning, I have been seeking out inspiration in the form of beautiful exteriors and greenery.  I’m gushing green gardens,  pining perfect patios, and lusting luscious landscapes. (say that 3 times fast!)

Would you like to join me as I daydream?

My goal for next spring is to do our walkway with large cement blocks, river rocks, and desert plants and grasses…. kinda like this type of look.
