garden lust

It seems like the rest of the world is on the brink of going back to school or breaking out the fall boots, and out here in Texas-land we are at the peak of our summer heat.ย  My grass has turned 50 shades of brown as the temps climb over 100 degrees here each day.ย  Rain? What’s that?ย  I’m not sure, because we haven’t seen any in months.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚ Neither have my poor plants.ย  I struggle to keep them alive as it is, and this drought is not helping.

ย

So, on this lovelyย Monday morning, I have been seeking out inspiration in the form of beautiful exteriors and greenery.ย  I’m gushing green gardens, ย pining perfect patios, and lusting luscious landscapes. (say that 3ย times fast!)

Would you like to join me as I daydream?

This is so fun.ย  Borderline crazy, but fun.

Wouldn’t it be so awesome if your patio looked like this?

Does anybody out there have a herb garden? Are they easy to grow?ย ย I really like this vertical style on I saw on Pinterest:

ย

My goal for next spring is to do our walkway with large cement blocks, river rocks, and desert plants and grasses…. kinda like this type of look.

I wonder if these planter boxes are hard to make….?

Red Bud Isle: where dogs (and people) roam free

Over the weekend, Nate & I spent the day in Austin.ย  After getting some lunch and meeting up for a short shopping stint with my Aunt & cousin, we wanted to kill a couple of hours… but didn’t have any clue of what we wanted to do.ย  So we drove.ย  I pulled out my phone and was like “let’s go here” and pointed to some random island near Lake Austin.ย  So it was completely by chance that we stumbled upon Red Bud Isle.

As soon as we parked (which FYI, parking is limited), we soon figured out this place was devoted to man’s best friend.ย  Basically it’s an island where dogs can roam free, off leash.ย  (Unfortunately, we didn’t have our little furball with us, but we plan on bringing her sometime soon.)

path

There’s lots of random paths and trails. Totally not uncommon to just see dogs chasing each other through the woods.

So serene.

This was my favorite spot.ย  At the very tip of the island, there is a tree and all of it’s roots are exposed.

My favorite picture.ย  Sigh.

Of course I had to add some pictures of our furry friends we met.

This dog below is Sidney. She’s 14. What a doll.ย  I can only wish I look that good at 98.

So if you and your pup are looking for a fun time in Austin, I suggest you go check it out.ย  Because of the terrain, don’t be surprised if your pooch gets wet and/or muddy.
