Dallas Market, continued

Now to part dos of my Dallas Market Trip.

The Global Views showroom was my absolute favorite.  They did such a great job of putting together their displays and color stories.  Plus their line of goods is just phenomenal.

.

Tangerine and Grey!! Pure genius.

.

Close up of the chair in the corner.  Traditional meets contemporary!

.

More Tangerine and grey!

.

Marble top coffee table.  The base is pretty sweet too.

.

Fun accessories.

.

Tree Table!  What a cool concept for a restaurant: a long bench on one side with tables and side chairs.

.

This room was FANTASTICAL.  Blue and green and peacock all over! So fun.

.

Love these accessories.

.

Cool lounge chair

.

Love the design of the back of the chair too.

.

These little treasures are what I found in a couple of the cash & carry stores.  Cheap-o and so cute.

Can you believe this scarf was $7??

.

.

I think these earrings were about $18 for all 3!!

.

All in all, Dallas was a success! 🙂

Dallas Market

This past Friday, the design studio I work for took all of the designers, assistant designers, and support staff to the Total Home & Gift Market in Dallas.  I was totally pumped because this was my first trip to a residential market (I’ve been to NeoCon in Chicago), and my first time to the Dallas Market Center.

.

We flew up for the day, so we had a lot of ground to cover in 11 hours.  I’m talking 15 floors.

But we made a list of all the must stop shops… and hit up a few of the clothing and jewelry floors as well.

My pictures might be somewhat random, but here are some of the really cool things I saw:

.

A spin on the classic cafe chair, available in a plethora of funky colors.

.

I love anything made from nature.  A great (& sustainable!) choice for an accent table.

.

Another obsession: anything Moroccan inspired. LOVE!!!

.

Great bedding concepts and fabrics.

.

Umm yes please.  You don’t have to ask me twice!  By the way, I was totally a fan of all the free food and drink being thrown at me all day.

.

Crazy about the red interior of this cabinet!

.

These wire pendents were awesome.

.

Great line of throws – fun patterns and so unbelievably softttttt.

.

Lovely linen striped drapes.

.

But it wasn’t all glamorous.  Like these stuffed REAL raccoons (think taxidermy on crack). I guess someone felt the need to have them go on a canoe expedition?? WHO DOES THAT???

.

One of my favorite things about interior design is the unexpected.  Red bottle cap mirror or console could totally blow minds in the right space.

.

Beautiful accessories.

.

More accessories, supercharged this time!

.

This was such a great display wall idea:  fabric covered panels put together in a quilted pattern.

.

Great option for plastic tableware.  Fun prints at a great price.

Well I think this is all enough for now! I’m sure your brain is on information overload, so tomorrow I will post pictures from my favorite showroom of the trip and the great cheap jewelry I bought.  XOXO.

eye candy: spring fabrics that will rock your world

Spring is here!  This means new beginnings, warmer weather, longer days (hello daylight savings time!) and bringing out the brighter colors.  The good news is that your home can freshen up too with some of the new hot fabrics that have been released for the Spring.

Duralee and Highland Court came out with some great new fabrics for 2012.  Some of my favorites are as follows:

.

From Highland Court’s Global Collection,  this print is worldly and soft.  Blue and green perfection.

.

A vintage birdcage print with a modern twist.  Love the fun colors it comes in!

.

.

A leaf pattern that could be used in a beach bungalow or an urban loft, which makes it completely versatile.

.

This mushroom fabric is just so delightful.   Also comes in green and pink for the daring.

.

Such a fun pattern!

.

Nothing screams spring more than bicycles in hot hues!

.

.

These Kravet fabrics also made the cut:

It’s no secret that I love anything Ikat.   This one is also available in many other colorways.

.

Love the mustard yellow, turquoise, and grey put together.

.

So cute!! And the flower centers are embroidered to add texture. I can totally see this fabric in a girls bedroom.

4 great iPhone apps for interior design (and they’re free!)

Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer or a design professional, these iPhone apps help solve common interior design problems in minutes.

.

Problem:  You want to find a wall color to match the colors in your bedding, but lugging the whole thing with you to the paint store is nearly impossible.

Solution:  Use a paint color matching app, such as Sherwin Williams’ Color Snap or Benjamin Moore’s Color Capture to help you pick a color.  You can snap a picture of the bedding, then use the app to pick out an individual color or find a color scheme that works.  Then save that color to your phone,  and head to the paint store to pick it up.  Easy as pie!

.

Problem:  You need to know a room’s dimensions quick, but you don’t have a tape measure with you.

Solution:  Have MagicPlan calculate the dimensions for you!  You choose the wall corners, openings, and doorways, and it generates the floor plan.

If you’re wondering just how accurate it is,  I tried it on my living room as an experiment.

Then I measured the actual dimensions and it was only 2-3″ inches off! Amazing!

.

Problem: You want to make sure that picture is hanging straight on the wall, but you don’t have a level.

Solution: Download iHandy Level & you’re good to go!

.

Problem:  You need a quick conversion from inches to feet.

Solution:  Use Units app for easy conversions of many different units of measurement.

find your perfect palette!

If you haven’t already seen this website, let me tell you it is just simply amazing!  It’s called Design Seeds, and each day they post new inspiring color palettes.  It’s genius because it takes a great photo and then pulls out the colors that are in it, producing a neat combo of colors that work together flawlessly.

Many photos from this site are pinned all over Pinterest these days (by the way, if you aren’t already on Pinterest, you need to be!), but the site itself is actually a really good resource because with the Palette Search  you can take any color you like, using its RGB value, and find palettes with that color!

These are a few of my favorites.   Enjoy!
