6 table lamps i’m loving right now

I’ve been looking at lighting for a client this morning and thought I’d share some of my favorite finds:

6 table lamps I'm loving right now

1> drooling over that clean crisp white marble base

2> cream ceramic paired with a linen shade.  A steal at less than $50!

3>  this would make an awesome desk lamp

4> my favorite color dipped in gold.

5> obsessed with this pendant so of course a lamp in the same style would be delightful.

6> earthy wood with your choice of a gray, white, or cork shade. Thank you Target!

For links to these and a plethora of more lamps, check out my Lighting board on Pinterest.  Happy Tuesday!

Did anyone catch Austinite Chelsea Fullerton’s home tour on the Everygirl?  If not, feast your eyes on this slice of design pie.

Chelsea Fullerton - the EverygirlChelsea Fullerton's living room

Chelsea is a lover of all things made.  Whether it’s designing a logo or website, or creating a piece of furniture with her husband, it’s clear she loves the process of telling her story through design.  So much so, that she helps others do the same.  She launched her company Go Forth Creative back in 2012, offering creative direction to other businesses.

Judging by what she did with her home, I could safely trust her with my life.

In the article, she mentions her love of Craigs list bargain hunting and shares tips on working from home.  I’m pretty sure we could be bff’s.

the crisp, white bath

White is my all-time favorite “color”.  It’s so refreshing, calming, and uplifting.  If you are going for a look that is clean and timeless, white is the way to go.  It works especially well for kitchens and baths.

Because the weekends never seem to hang around long enough, I thought I’d supply you with an assortment of bathroom eye candy for your Monday morning.

moroccan retreat

You know whats funny?  I was cleaning out my drafts folder and found this rough draft of a post I was going to do back in 2012, but never finished!   I still think it is very much postworthy and relevant, so I will share it with you over 2 years later!

<><><><><><><><><>

I have this immense fascination with Morocco, so of course when I saw this delightful residence in the May issue of Lonny, I was ecstatic.  Welcome to the Moroccan abode of author and activist, Maryam Montague.   (You may be familiar with her book Marrakesh by Design.)  Keep scrolling for some major eye candy!

This home is the ultimate balance of old and new.  It is Moroccan-modern perfection.  You know what helps?  Having an architect husband.  Together Maryam and her husband Chris were able to create their dream family home in the perfect central location for work and play.

I’m loving the mix of modern and vintage Moroccan design elements.  Such a vivid collection from a well traveled family and a  sweet reflection of the city she has grown to love.

Hey, it may be from 2012 but you could have told me it was in print yesterday and I would have believed it.  The moral of this story: Great design is timeless, remember that friends. And also do not wait until tomorrow (or 2 years from tomorrow) to do what could be done today!

color story: citrus tones

We all draw our inspiration from different places.  Finding inspiration in food… that’s perfectly normal, right?   Yup.  Some of the most cheery colors out there are citrus tones.  Lime, grapefruit, orange, lemon…  They are like little works of art.  Especially when styled like this pic below:

lovely citrus shot

And besides, what’s summer without good music,  longer days, – and of course – bright colors?

Oh and Margaritas!! Can’t leave that off the list!!  (Click the picture below for the recipe to this Pink Grapefruit Lime Margarita)Grapefruit Agave Margarita recipe - Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch

Honestly, this may be my favorite color palette in the world.  (I may have said that before in a blog post, but I was just kidding, and am super serious now.)

I mean, some of my favorite interior shots EVER are in this palette:

And this one: well if a green banquette doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what will.

Tastefully done with some more traditional flair.

This nugget below made the cover of Southern Living’s May 2012 issue.  For me, it still remains one of the best mixes of prints I’ve seen in an interior.

And let me just say – Mandi at Vintage Revivals is the bomb-dot-com, because she gets the last 2 photo mentions.

This first one is the love child of retro vintage and bohemian styles and it’s awesome.  retro bohemian bedroom, featured on Vintage Revivals

And YES, one of my favorite DIY projects of all time!!! Seriously, still can’t get over that hex wall.  She’s a genius!

DIY Tufted Picture Frame Headboard - Vintage Revivals

MYTH #1:  You have to live in FL to rock these colors.

MYTH #2:  Using a bunch of bright colors together creates disaster.

As proven by the pictures above, both of these statements are totally false!  Yes, these colors do favor coastal environments, but when done right, anyone can pull off this look.  Intermix some of these fresh tones in, and the fruits of your labor will pay off (See what I did there?)
